Europa. A continent in the northwest of the Eastern Hemisphere with the Arctic Ocean to the North (the main subdivisions are the Kara Sea, the Barents Sea and the White Sea); Asia to the East (sometimes regarded Europe and Asia as a continent-Eurasia), bounded by the Ural Mountains and the Ural River; and Iran and Turkey, the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea to the South (the main subdivisions are the Aegean Sea, the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea). Sea, Tyrrhenian Sea, Ligurian Sea; to the west is the Atlantic Ocean (the main subdivisions are the Bay of Biscay, the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea). With an area of 10.4 million square kilometres (including subsidiary islands), it is the sixth largest continent in the world, which is only larger than Oceania.
